This original ceramic character ornament was handmade in Scotland.
Blobs are colourful creatures that come in all shapes and sizes. This dino blob is part of a series of larger sculpted blob pieces based on dinosaurs. This series explores AJ’s childhood love for dinosaurs and their new passion for colour in pottery.
It was made using pinch-pot, slip casting, slab building and sculpting techniques. It was then dried and bisque fired to 1000 degrees C. After cooling it was hand-painted with coloured underglazes, then coated in a transparent glaze and fired to 1223 degrees C. Gold lustre was then carefully applied, and it was fired in the kiln again to 700 degrees C.
